The collection
The Collezione Branca, joy and pride of the family, was inaugurated on June, 4th 2009. It is much more than a museum recalling the company's past: it is a space where the production tools become not only documentation, but also a statement of a cutting-edge communication, and evidence of the relationship with the local territory.

Hosted in the company's historical industrial facilities in Milan, at 2, Via Resegone, the collection covers an area of over 1,000 sqm, being the result of more than ten years' work needed to select, group, classify, and mount the archive. Items on display include a fascinating collection of iconographic materials (from the very first shop signs to black and white pictures), posters signed by the world's most renowned poster artists (Metlicovitz is to be noticed for his famous image of an eagle seizing the globe) and the sketches for the 60s and 70s ad campaigns. Visitors can also find mortars, alembics and distillers: all the items are suspended in a magical atmosphere created by the aromas and scents of herbs and spices used in the production.

The collection is open Monday/Wednesday/Friday starting at 10.00 am and at 3.00 pm, by appointment or invitation, for guided tours (maximum 25 people).

Guided visits in Italian and English (by request).

Branca Tower
Rhythm and harmony belong not only to music, but also to architectural works. The Tower, for example, apparently marks the passing of time: it is a universal symbol known everywhere, a metaphor for strength that enlarges the boundaries of sight.

Designed by Gio Ponti, the Branca Tower is considered to be a real work of art. Slender and transparent, a real architectural "challenge," it was built in record time, just two and a half months, in 1933 on the occasion of the Fifth Triennial exhibition.

Along with the tower, also six large temporary "isolated arches" designed by Sironi were built: Milan became the European symbol of a triennial international exhibition of decorative and industrial arts.
TOWER RESTORATION

The tower became unfit for use in 1972 but, in honor to the city of Milan, Fratelli Branca Distillerie completely renovated it making it accessible again and renamed it Torre Branca.
In fact it was way back in the ‘30's that Branca began anticipating the future through the visualization approach to international strategies, building plants in Europe, North and South America, thus laying the foundations of its growth, and promoting its products and the brand image all over the world.

TECHNICAL DATA

Entirely made of special steel pipes, flanged and bolted, manufactured by Dalmine, the tower is 108.60 meters high.
The main structure of the Tower has the shape of a truncated hexagonal pyramid, having each side 6 meters of length at the base of the Tower. At the level of 1.000 m. each side of the hexagon is still 4,45 meters. A slight tapering gives the Tower a prismatic aspect.
Today, an ultra- modern panoramic lift takes visitors in groups of five at a time up to an indoor viewpoint, in less than 1 minute.

CAFÉ-RESTAURANT

On the wish to bestow on the city of Milan a Café-Restaurant, a place to hold events in as well, was created. As a natural evolution of the ambitious project of the Branca family, traditionally committed to supporting research and the development of social culture: wanting to stimulate Milan consciousness with a precise meeting point, a symbol of creative, innovative efforts looking to the future.
The result is a steel supporting structure, a semi circular space at the base of the Branca Tower, very much in line with the modular nature of the structural elements of the ravishing work of art, thus representing its ideal technological evolution.
It represents the orientation axis of the Tower, with respect to the orthogonally of the monumental architectures already existing in the Park -Palazzo dell'Arte, Castello, Arena and Arco della Pace – being positioned at a lower height than the base, to avoid interfering with the full view.
The beautiful cover and the hi-resistance glazed wall facing the Park, allow a charming perspective view of the Tower from indoor as well as a full view of the Park.
